Research the Types of Home Theater Screens Before Purchasing

by Brandon Lord

Would it not be fun to watch TV and movies on a big home theater screen? You have considered it before and now you are serious. The first step is to research the types of home theater screens before purchasing. This will help you find the screen that will work best for you.

A home theater can be a complete system with a special TV or wide screen. It is becoming more common to have a special area for entertaining and including a big movie screen. This can show games as well as TV shows and movies. A sound system adds to the feel of the room with the speakers placed in locations throughout the room so it enforces the surround sound system. They can decorate the room however they want and design the room to really work for them whenever they want to use it. There can be a comfortable sitting area that is directed at the TV or the screen. The room can also be without windows or use blackout curtains that will make the room darker.

There are four types of home theater screens. They include manual pull down, permanent, electric and portable. Take into consideration where the home theater will be located when considering a purchase. Are you going to have it installed in a living room or entertainment room? Are you setting it up in a special room? All of this is important.

Manual Pull Down Screen

Having a manual pull down screen is an affordable option, but depending on the size and quality it can be expensive. The lowest cost option is a roll up screen. Stronger choices are more expensive and are ideal for use in the home. This flexible choice is attached to the wall or onto the ceiling.

Permanent Screen

Having a permanent system set up, such as in a special entertainment room, is great for a homeowner. It is mounted to the wall and comes in a variety of sizes. It is open on the wall at all times with homeowners often protecting it by covering it with a curtain. It can get dirty easily and damaged such as if it is displayed in a house with young children or pets. It is popular because it displays a high quality display, but it can be more expensive when it comes to maintenance.

Electric Screen

An electric screen is growing in popularity because it is a high quality and appealing. This is very useful and ideal for a room that is set up as a movie room. Why? It gives the viewers the feel of being in a theater. The downside of these screens is installation.

Portable Screen

A portable screen is useful at homes when the family does not have a set area to view movies or entertain. They can bring out the screen and set it up in the living room to allow for fun TV or movie viewing. There are even some projectors that display games as well.
